Terms & Conditions
Terms & Conditions
By registering for and participating in the hackathon, each participant agrees to these Terms & Conditions and to the Intellectual Property provisions set out below. Please read them carefully before you register; registration cannot be completed without accepting them.
General Participation Terms
- Participants must provide accurate information and comply with the hackathon rules, schedule, and code of conduct.
- All work submitted must be produced by the participant during the hackathon and must be original.
- Participation is free of charge and open to those who meet the published eligibility criteria.
- The officially approved text of these terms prevails and is published verbatim, without rewording.
Key Intellectual Property Provisions
The following provisions are published verbatim per the text approved by the Council:
- The participant assigns to the Council all intellectual property rights arising from their participation, granting the Council the right to exploit, dispose of, and license these rights, without the participant being entitled to claim any ownership rights afterward.
- If two similar submissions are received from two different parties, precedence is determined by the date and time the submission was sent electronically, unless the other party formally proves ownership.
- The Council (or any party it authorizes) has the right to publish hackathon submissions and use them in promotional, advertising, and marketing activities.
- The participant grants the Council a license to display, publish, transmit, modify or alter, store, or re-produce the submission in another form.
- The participant confirms their submission does not infringe any third party's rights and contains no offensive, abusive, defamatory, or threatening content, and bears full criminal, civil, and administrative liability in the event of a violation.
- The Council reserves the right to disqualify any submission or participant at any stage of the hackathon, and the right to cancel or amend prizes without prior notice and without the participant having any right to object.
- All rights related to the hackathon itself (name, title, logos, designs, and marks) are the exclusive property of the Saudi Council of Engineers.
- The participant must maintain complete honesty, and must complete all stages of the hackathon personally; no one may act on their behalf at any stage except with the Council's official approval.
- The participant acknowledges the Council's right to request further information or supporting documents to verify the authenticity of their submission.
- The participant must disclose any contractual relationship with a third party (a talent agency, management, or otherwise) that could limit the Council's rights to use the submission in whole or in part.
The full, officially approved text is a separate annex published verbatim, without rewording. Any future edit to the Terms & Conditions or the Intellectual Property text requires official Council approval before publication.
